What happens when we’re willing to feel bad is that, sure enough, we often feel bad–but without the stress of futile avoidance. Emotional discomfort, when accepted, rises, crests and falls in a series of waves. Each wave washes parts of us away and deposits treasures we never imagined. No one would call it easy, but the rhythm of emotional pain that we learn to tolerate is natural, constructive, and expansive. It’s different from unwilling suffering the way the sting of disinfectant is different from the sting of decay; the pain leaves you healthier than it found you.

I define an athlete as anyone who uses exercise to connect with their life. I work with every level of athlete, from avid walker to professional.

Please contact me if you are struggling. There’s no minimum injury requirement. You don’t need to be an elite or professional athlete. You don’t need an injury lasting at least 22.5 months. You don’t need to be incapacitated. You only need be someone who would like guidance and help and who desires a more constructive approach to injury.

I receive countless lengthy emails that conclude with people asking for advice or to pick my brain. I am more than happy for you to pick my brain, but let’s do this in a way that respects both of us.

Additionally, I receive many emails where people want to “just ask a quick question.” Please. Don’t do that. While your question seems easy to answer and straightforward to you, it’s almost never straightforward for me to give you a comprehensive answer. I want to provide you with a thorough answer including “why” so you can make the best care decisions. Thorough answers take time.

You cannot receive the support you need for a complicated and convoluted situation over email. The support and time you need can be found in a working relationship with me where we get to know one another, and we work together over the course of weeks or months. We’ll start by meeting for a 70-minute comprehensive consultation. During the first 10 minutes you’ll get to know my background, research, and process. Then, we’ll talk about your story and accompanying challenges. I’ll provide a layout of gaps and opportunities. You’ll get a customized
list of three-to-four action steps and tools you can employ immediately to start feeling
