Healthcare

Navigating healthcare after an injury can feel like trying to assemble IKEA furniture without instructions, except the stakes are much higher.

Finding the right providers and knowing how to advocate for yourself along the way can make an enormous difference in how you recover.

The guidance on this page comes from both my professional work with injured athletes over the past 15+ years and my own nearly 20-year journey through injury recovery.

After a catastrophic knee fracture, I developed arthrofibrosis, a rare condition treated by a small handful of specialists worldwide. Like many athletes navigating arthrofibrosis, I initially chose the wrong care team, and multiple surgeries worsened my condition before I finally found a dream team that helped me move forward.

I created this page to pass on lessons I’ve learned, often the hard way. I want you to feel less lost, ask better questions, and build a healthcare team that truly supports your recovery, both physically and mentally.
